Virtua Tennis 4 review

  by Tobias Henry (pocket-lint.com) - May, 2011

If it ain't broke, don't fix it” seems to be the guiding design principal for Sega's classic Tennis series. While the graphics change and game modes come and go, Sega hasn't really meddled much over the series four iterations (six if you include the...

Addictive gameplay, motion controls added, expanded range of players

Motion controls are fun rather than realistic (might be a pro for some...)

This is a superb and furiously addictive game of arcade tennis, which gives the established Virtua Tennis gameplay a new shine

Pitch-perfect tennis, as long as you're not expecting the motion controls to play a big part

We had to pinch ourselves to check we were awake. One moment we were playing Sega's latest tennis gem, the next our virtual tennis player was running around the court hatching chicks from eggs and l

Virtua Tennis 4 (Xbox 360) review

Virtua Tennis was the perfect arcade tennis game and got everything right first time around. Over the years bells and whistles have been added and the graphics updated to keep it looking fresh, but at its heart, it's still the same game. So here we are...

All in all it's another winner from the guys at Sega. Enough has been added to make it worth buying, while not messing with the perfection that made it a hit in the arcades over a decade ago. If you want to play tennis on your console it doesn't get...

Virtua Tennis 4

The Wii Remote and MotionPlus together have demonstrated potential to act as a tool for all sorts of sporting situations - boxing, archery, bowling and the like - with the age old game of tennis being one of the strong contenders on the system. Up...

A disappointing effort from the series veterans and creators - it feels as if the Wii version was considered last, with faulty controls and a blatant lack of planning when it came to motion control. There are plenty of features to dig your teeth into,...

REVIEW: Aim for a slice of stardom

World Tour mode is brilliant ; Hilariously silly mini-games ; Unexpectedly strategic ; Matches get genuinely intense

Kinect bits are rubbish

Kinect aside, it's genuinely smashing

Virtua Tennis 2009

Virtua Tennis has something of a reputation to maintain. From the glorious days of the Dreamcast the series has maintained a good reputation for the past few years with iterations on a number of systems. This latest Wii offering is one of the first...

The fact that this is one of the first titles to use MotionPlus shows badly. At times it feels at best poorly implemented and at other points it just feels like it has been tacked on as an afterthought. Compared to EA's offering with Grand Slam Tennis,...

Virtua Tennis' debut on Wii

A great debut for the franchise on the Wii, and a familiar game which translates exceptionally well onto the motion-oriented console.

How well do tennis and Motion Plus combine?

Motion Plus makes gameplay more realistic; Enjoyable gameplay online and alone; Creating and training your player is enjoyable

Using friend codes to play online is a little limiting; Some tutorials are a little vague; Moves can be tricky to master

Virtua tennis have really improved on earlier games. I have played previous games and got bored fairly quickly because of playing the same people. This time, they have put in made up players, which is much better as it adds variety. However i found...

not so great tennis.....

i found the wii version of VT2009 to suffer from serious lag when attempting to strike the ball and this led to my utter dismay. in my opinion, wii sports tennis still rules if this game is the best alternative that the wii has to offer tennis fans.

well, firstly I really liked it... graphic is acceptable, gameplay is easy.. but then 3-4 hours later, is it the same all the time, there's no such deep gameplay than in other sport games, for example FIFA 2010 which is fantastic. It's boring to play...
