This would have been the highest-capacity hard disk we've ever seen if it weren't for the last-minute arrival of Western Digital's 2TB Caviar Green.

The idea that a terabyte of storage can be considered mainstream seems hilarious, but that's the case with the Seagate ST31000340AS Barracuda.
Fantastic rice ; Good erformance ; Well built
Doesn't quite match the erformance of most rivals

Seagate's 750GB Barracuda has an attractive five-year warranty and was very fast at writing and reading large files.

Seagate joins Hitachi at the 1TB milestone but is it too little too late?
Seagate's first hard drive to break 1TB has everything you would expect in terms of features and its performance is better than any other high capacity drive available. You have to pay a little extra for that extra space but if you really need 1TB of...

Looking for half a terrabyte of storage? Segate's latest Barracuda could be the perfect catch.
The question of compatibility overshadows the 7200.9 as we expect that storage should plug in and behave, and the idea that a hard drive may ‘disappear' at any moment is deeply concerning. The 7200.9 is fast, quiet and good value, but its new SATA2.5...

This 1.5 TB hard drive consists of four 375 GB platters. Add that up, and you'll reach the 1.5 TB Advertised size, but it's not as simple as that in practice. Once it's formatted as an NTFS volume in Windows Vista, you'll have a total of 1397.3 GB.
Excellent read and write speeds ; Large storage space: 1.5 TB
No noise management ; Quite loud ; 15.1 ms acess time ; Can get hot: average temperature 46 °C
The 1.5 TB Seagate 7200.11 is a very good hard drive for storing your data thanks to the huge amount of space on it and its very fast read and write speeds. It's not perfect, though. You can't activate acoustic management, the access times and average...

Seagate OEM 1TB Barracuda 7200.11
I just want to add my vote to the other guys. I have just lost all my Data. I had this drive for about a year now. Very unreliable and slow product. I was using this drive as a storage for all my valuable photos and music. It started giving clicking...

Lots of issues
I have many drives, which run most of the time. My Western Digital Green 1.5TB drives have been flawless. However this Seagate 1.5TB was a disaster. The first failed after 2 months and got replaced by Amazon directly - they sent the new one and I...

I can't believe thesse are still for sale!
I'm lucky, I got 6 months use before it transformed itself into a brick, unlucky in that I had 6 months of data on it! Google Seagate drives and read the terrible tales of woe. Do not buy, save time by flushing your money down the toilet! I only gave...

Don't bother. Bought two and one of mine just up and died for no apparent reason and as you can see I'm not the only one who this has happened to.

Seagate 1.5TB Hard Disk

Can't fault this so far
The drive arrived on time and works perfectly. I've had it for about three weeks and had no problems. Runs fairly quietly and very coolly. Remember this is an OEM device, so you will need a SATA cable and some screws.

Great value for money
Purchased this for a MacPro and it was easy to fit and worked as expected. So far no issues and using it as a backup disc.
