Linksys' Wi-Fi extender is an elegant slim box designed to be hung on the wall, high up preferably.
Solid without being inspiring, the Linksys WRE54G is a decent WiFi extender. There are cheaper alternatives, however.

Compatible with both 802.11b and g, the WRE54G Range Expander is undeniably a simple solution toad range to your network. It's one of the only examples of such kit on the market, too.

For all the advantages of the proposed ‘n' standard 802.11 wireless technology, the truth is that if you're looking to share broadband around a home - and you're not too bothered about streaming weighty media - ...
A solid way to extend the boundaries of a 'b' or 'g' standard wireless network, ideally with a Linksys router. That said, 'draft n' routers come in at around the same price now.

Extends your routers signal
Didn't detect our router and had to be manually setup, not protected against security breaches

Linksys' WRE54G Wireless-G Range Expander [reviewed here] is a WDS-based 802.11b / g repeater that Linksys says works only with its WAP54G access point and WRT54G and WRT54GS wireless routers. But with a little effort, you can get it to function with...
shows the SSID set to "linksys" (how it will be set if you connect to any of the supported Linksys wireless products), you can leave it at the default, set it equal to the target AP's SSID, or change it to something else

I really wanted this to work ...
This looks like a great product and I really wanted it to work. However it has been a complete failure. Even though it says it's connected it creates IP address conflicts which seem impossible to sort out. I have manually assigned completely...

Linksys by Cisco WRE54G Wireless-G Range Expander
Every 2 to 3 days it requires a power reset otherwise it reaches a complete halt. Other than that it's not that bad.

Good product, iphones and ipods not supported properly..
I bought one of these recently to extend my wireless G network. I have a Netgear DG834PN MIMO router, which is very good. However the walls in our new house are so solid we just weren't getting the range (it doesn't help the router is in the study,...

Remarkable performance
I bought this product with little more than a hope of some partial improvement. I live in Cotswold Stone house with the main wireless router on the top floor and with walls external and internal of some 14 inches. Signal in the kitchen - the furthest...

Worked first time
I run my G-only network with security so couldn't use the autoconfigure button on the side of the WRE. So I ran the setup from the CD. Worked first time. No problems. My internet radio is now completely usable, rather than dropping out every few...

Absolute rubbish
This was absolutely impossible to set up and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I followed the instructions in the box and I followed the instructions I found on the internet but, either way, it was not to be. I sent it back in the end and would advise...

Works really well, straightforward setup
The Wireless Range Expander I received was dated Sept 09, and is Ver 3. It was all up and running in about 15 minutes, and very straightforward. I plugged in supplied network cable, linked it to my switch and powered it up. The set-up CD found my WAP...

Does what it says; no installation problems
After moving house, we found that our Netgear DG834GT wireless router couldn't propagate a signal to the rooms where my wife normally uses her laptop - parts of the house (including some interior walls) are an early 1800s cottage with thick stone...

Easy to set up, works well
OK, so if you're new to computing then you might find the set up slightly awkward but if you're in any way experienced with PC's (or an IT professional of course) then you'll have no difficulty whatsoever setting this up. Like others have said, I...
