Hauppauge Impact VCB/PCI Composite AV Input card

This card works fine for me. I am using it to transfer my video tapes from a VCR to the computer. It has not got a sound input, but I am using the line in of my sound card for that. I have recorded over one hour of continuous video and skipped to the...

Works with arch linux

I use this with a linux program called motion, on a 1ghz 512mb box (low cpu usage 9%). I only use 2 of the inputs and they work great. Remember that it only shows up as one device /dev/video# and has 4 inputs on that dev. To check use a program called...

FPS with multipule cameras

  by Brewski (newegg.com) - Aug, 2010

This card does not and will not import audio. This seems to be built for budget CCTV systems and does that task quite well. (I have not tried the card in Windows or OS X)

Works very well with Linux and Zoneminder. Easy to install, includes a low profile bracket

In linux, the bottom most plug does not appear to work. I am sure there is a work around, but I don't think it really matters because ; When using 1 input, you get 30 FPS. When using 2 inputs, you get 2.5 FPS. When using 3 inputs, it drops to 0.7 FPS....

Cheap 4 Input Card

  by Brewski (newegg.com) - Jun, 2010

Big Note Here: THIS CARD DOES NOT RECORD AUDIO. If you are looking to record your VHS or other analog source to DVD or into the computer, look else where (like at the Canopus 110) as this will sorely disappoint you (see poor reviews) However, if you...

Works like a charm in Linux. Drivers for the chipset are already installed in the latest kernels. Works great with ZoneMinder, making it an affordable DVR input card. Its a low profile card, and comes with a low profile bracket ; (I've not tested this...

In Linux, one of the inputs does not work (bottom most port). I'm not sure why, or how to fix it, but I read this limitation going in (possibly due to the S-Video port using TWO inputs instead of just one) ; Only one Analog to Digital converter chipset...

Good card for the price

  by ThaddeusW (newegg.com) - Dec, 2009

People need to understand how this card works before writing reviews. The Conexant Fusion 878a has only one video ADC that has a 5 input multiplexer. It does have a second ADC but its only for the chroma signal of the S-video input. So to capture...

Multiple inputs including S-Video. Works good under Linux with V4L

Poor windows drivers (not that I care though)

Just So You Know

3 "Yellow" Composite Video Ins, 1 4-Pin S-Video in. For those who are looking for an answer to what the 3 "Yellow" RCA connections are for, they are 3 separate Composite Video ins. If you are looking for audio, those are normally "Red" and "White" for...

It's a Video In

Disappointing under Windows

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Aug, 2009

Why put 4 inputs on a card when it only supports one at a time.

Works with one input at a time, so-so linux support

This card does NOT work with more than one input at a time under windows drivers

Paperweight

  by Not Happy (newegg.com) - Apr, 2009

I bought this card... I have x64 bit windows. Drivers are incompatible. So I waste a ton of time digging up an old HDD and installing x32 for a dual boot. Drivers still won't work. Now they install, but the card doesn't output the video... so what cha...

It fits in the PCI slot

This card might have potential... but the drivers don't work right... and don't get me started on the WinTV software. What a joke

Do Not Recommend for Windows 2000

Good tech support. No wait by phone

This card will not work with Windows 2000. I spent a few hours total with tech support and even sent the card to Hauppauge to reprogram the EPROM--all without success
