Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro review

  by Nathaniel Wilkins (cnet.co.uk) - Aug, 2005

cnet.co.uk

Creative's new X-Fi processor makes the X-Fi Elite Pro the most advanced and priciest Sound Blaster ever

Improves the quality of MP3 and CD audio ; Better software organisation ; 7.1-channel, 24-bit/96KHz output ; Extensive external device connectivity

Noticeable latency between remote and receiver ; No FireWire or USB 2.0 ports ; Software still needs streamlining ; Pricey

Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Elite Pro

by PC Advisor staff (goodgearguide.com.au) - Jan, 2006

goodgearguide.com.au

Last year's Creative Audigy 4.0 Pro was a tad disappointing because it used much the same technology as its predecessor. But now, after having spent a...

Excellent signal-to-noise ratio, Plenty of inputs, Excellent results for music and movies

No FireWire port, Games need to be specially programmed to make full use of the card

The X-Fi Elite Pro is an extremely impressive sound card. The audio performance rivals that of many professional cards, and the break-out box offers more connections than a BT exchange. However, it's also seriously pricey, and unless you're a dedicated...

Award: Editor's Choice!

The top of the line is the X-Fi Elite Pro ($400 street), which has 64MB of X-RAM, higher-end DACs that provide an additional 7dB of dynamic range, and an oversized desktop-mounted breakout box. The Elite Pro competes sonically with semipro multichannel...

Enormous feature set. Stunning audio quality. Flexible I/O box and 64MB onboard RAM. High-impedance electric guitar and RIAA-equalized phono inputs

Very expensive

Creative has once again established a new state-of-the-art in the sound board market. The Elite Pro has it all. Its only drawback is its price, which is high enough to drive less-demanding users to more affordable choices like the X-Fi XtremeMusic and...

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro Review

  by Kyle Kerley (nvnews.net) - Dec, 2005

In my inaugural review at nV News, I'll be covering my brand-spankin' new Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro soundcard. The X-Fi line of sound cards from Creative Labs line is based on a completely new core design. For additional information on the X-Fi,...

The XTREMEMUSIC, Platinum and Fatal1ty FPS have similar features such as 24-bit/96KHz sound at a 109dB Signal-to-Noise Ratio and EAX Advanced HD 5.0. The Platinum and Fatal1ty include a remote control and a front drive bay adapter. The Fatal1ty steps...

Sound card Last year's Creative Audigy 4.0 Pro was disappointing because it used much the same technology as its predecessor. But now, after having spent around US$100 million on developing the new X-Fi chip, Creative is back with a true...

The X-Fi Elite Pro sits at the very top of Creative's new range and as such includes a number of extras. It has 64MB of onboard RAM for storing game sounds and, whereas the entry-level X-Fi cards have a signal-to-noise ratio of 109dB (decibels), this...

Praxis-Test: Quickcheck: Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Elite Pro

  by Gunnar Troitsch (chip.de) - Aug, 2005

Great soundcard

  by Mr. D. H. Clegg (amazon.co.uk) - Mar, 2009

Great soundcard

Brilliant sound card, couldn't ask for more. The console has every possible port and control you could ask for, and the software is creative's usual excellent work. The controls on the console, and then duplicated on the remote really do make the sound...

Awesome but not without problems

  by jflux (cnet.com) - Aug, 2009

cnet.com

This is a great soundcard, except for the fact that it is highly sensitive to system changes and also suffers from a lack of shielding which can cause interferance from other PCI cards. For instance, the soundcard worked without a hitch on my old...

Excellent sound quality, it rivals that of other "pro audio soundcards" such as Saffire, in terms of overall sound. It also has the ability to record and capture on-board sounds, such as software synths and other audio sources

Popping and clicking issues can become a problem. I did, however manage to come up with a quick workaround to this problem. Tip: Try turning off your wireless internet connection completely when recording. The problem might be caused by interference
